View NotesThe Jed Luckless 2024 Summer Tour is back on Killiney Beach for night two! And as always this Killiney Beach show sports a special theme! For this show, Jed takes the audience on a trip back to the 1990's to experience a full show of his former band "GuRGLe!" The stage had a big GuRGLe banner behind it and the band's stoner turtle mascot adorned the stage front. Most if not all of these songs are songs Jed has played live before, but he's never put them all into one show so it's qute a special event! The show opens with the instrumental "GuRGLe Shuffle," followed by the Phishy inspired blueser "Black Molly." The epic cowboy tale "Old Man Miller" is up next and it opens up into the first big jam of the night, a bouncy rhythm with organ and synth guitars. It segues into "So Much For O.J." which was 'a big hit in the 90s.' The self reflective "Look Away" comes next and it also produces a nice fast paced improv jam that features synths and warping guitars then a nice smooth transition into the classic gambler's refrain "Cash Me In." The seasonal "The Freeze" closes out the first frame. Second set kicks off with the war epic "Friendly Burial" which spawns a fantastic high energy jam with some biting guitar riffs from Jed. It slides seamlessly into the Robert Varkony penned "Wheelbarrow Blues" followed hot on its tail by the Gary Tyler song "Stronger Instead," which also produces another rapid fire jam, which devolves into another Rob V. tune the poignant "Nicole." The Luckless/Varkony collaboration "The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea" closes out the second set, and a fun encore feautres the Monkees "I'm A Believer" which was a GuRGLe staple. This is a really FUN show as Jed leads us through GuRGLe history and pays homage to former founding bandmates Robert Varkony, Luke Bifulco and Gary Tyler along with a string of bass player who joined the band including Mark Disgun, Jordan Marion and Chris Kelly. Whether you were a fan of GuRGLe or not, this is a must-listen show to understand some of Jed's musical roots, not to mention it features at least three or four killer improv jams. Enjoy!
