View NotesJammin Jed's 2024 Summer Tour comes to end with this show at Cafe Musique in Second Life! It's been a fantastic tour and this show is a great way to cap it off. As Jed says, 9/11 is a great day to be with friends and make music, and a great crowd shows up on the virtual beach to do just that. Moondance Parx was at the light board making things shine. As you might expect, Jed starts this show out on a mellow note, donning his special guitar to play the somber "Bring Our Brothers Home," which seems a very apt way to start the festivities. Before He can launch into whatever would have been next, his doorbell rings! It's Mark Gutenplan at the door, and he joins in for a nice guitar duet of his song "Remember This Night." Mark and Jed sound great together, but before they can start something else, there's someone else at the door..it's colorful Kenny Kaufman showing up to play some bass, and he joins them for a nice trio version of Mark's "FM Rock" with Kenny's velvelty voice leading them through it. And wouldn't you know it, just as the three of them are getting excited about playing an acoustic set, the doorbell rings again. You guessed it...it's Pete Martine who jumps behind the drum kit and leads the full JLB unit into "Valley Of The Saints." What started as a mellow Jed solo show is now a full blown rocking JLB show! The band launches into their pop-rock single "Still In Luv With U," and follows it with the gentle "I Love You," with a great message for this particular day and an awesome improv jam with a little Hendrix tease from Jed and several distinct segments. It slides seamlessly into Jed's bluegrasser "Where The Mountains Meet The Sea" to close out the first set. Second set opens with Kenny Kaufman's "Saw Mill River" and the middle portion opens up into an extended jam which starts out with a fast-paced zeppy sound but takes a turn into some raunchy blues territory before it transitions into "Moved To The Country." Jed dedicates the next one to Ribon, the Jedtainment Director of Merchandise, thanking her for all the great virtual merch she has created over the past few years by honoring her request for "Sugar Pop" which had not made an appearance the whole tour. Another dedication follows, this one for Trey's nana Karen who the band pays their respects to with "Listen To The Angels." Jam vehicle "Rolling Waves" rolls in next and of course opens up into a monster jam clockin in at nearly 15 minutes and featuring one last Andy Griffith tease from Jed for the tour! The jam segues nicely into "Celebrate Instead," last played by JLB on their Fall Tour in 2022 and the calypso-style "By And Bye" caps of the second set perfectly. A two song encore features Mark's beautiful tribute to 9/11 heroes "The Rally" followed by Cailidgh Spire's high-energy pop-tune "The Song With Words And Stuff," always a fantastic way to close out a show. What started out as a somber end of tour show from Jed turns into an absolute surprise shredder with the JLB! The band had not performed in Second Life since their March Madness tour six months ago, but they are super tight and you can tell they are so excited to be playing. It's a great setlist, with a nice acoustic lead-in and then some incredible jamming from the full band, along with heartfelt dedications, a bust out of "Celebrate" and exceptional versions of tunes we know and love. A must listen show for the JLB fan! Enjoy!
