View NotesIt's the final round of JLB March Madness 2024 at The Mumbling Goat in Secondlife and the band delivers a championship show to a high energy crowd! Mark Gutenplan :fouled out" for the first set, so it's a JLB Trio to start featuring Jed, Kenny Kaufman and Pete Martine. They kick things off with one from Jed's new album, "Luna" which is a JLB debut and completes the band's playing of the entire new album on this tour. They follow that with another debut of "Alingments" off Jed's 2016 'Roll Over' album. Then it's back to more familiar ground with "The 86" and an excellent soaring solo section, followed by the pop-rocker "Nothings Ever Free" which they open up into a nic jam before a segue into the bouncy "On Hold," which also features a nice end solo section. "The Last Show" appropriately closes out the first frame. Second set starts off one player down with "Time & Tide" but Mark shows up, jumping off the bench and into the game in mid-stream! The energy from here on out is palpable as the band launches into "Give It Back" and a nice long improv jam that drops suddenly into a super sweet version of "Sugar Pop." Mark take the mic for his "Road Trip" next, then passes it to Kenny to lead the Talking Head tune "Cities" which produces another cool jam before swerving into fan favorite "Brother Love." Speaking of swerving, "Maserati" makes a run next, and the band has one more nice jam in store in Velvet Underground's "Rock And Roll" They close out the set with the always fun Caili Spires tune "The Song With Words And Stuff," and tack on a very nice "By And Bye" encore to wrap things up. This is fun show with a nice mix of tunes and a few really good jams. The first set trio delivers a couple debuts and a real nice "86" jam, and the full band blows things out in second set with several hot jams and a bunch of JLB favorites. A great finale to an awesome March Madness, and well worth a spin. Enjoy!
