View NotesIt's another Jammin Jed Wednesday at Odeen's in Carmel, NY! The bar was packed, half of it full with pool league players and the other half with Jed's Brewster Theatre crew, which made for a lively evening!

Jed opens with the Mark Gutenplan penned "Englishtown" (in honor Dead & Co's kicking off their Sphere run) and immediately spreads his wings with a nice jam that segues into the Beatles "Dear Prudence," the first of many cover tunes in the set. But two originals make their appearance next, "Time & Tide" off Jed's new album, and the GuRGLe era "Old Man Miller" which spans another nice jam before transitioning into the Talking Heads "Psycho Killer." Jed chills things out a bit with a reflective original called "When It Comes Around," and then delivers one of the highlights of the evening for the set closer: a dedication to the Brewster crew of "If I Were A Rich Man" from the musical 'Fiddler On The Roof' complete with Hava Nagila tease. Someone in the audience yells "L'Chaim" right before Jed takes a setbreak.

Second set opens with a pair of requests. Rock classic "All Along The Watchtower" is shouted out to Jed's 'new friend Rich," and the Grateful Dead's "Ripple" is for Brewster Theatre friend Chris Gillespie. In between is another hot improv jam. The Lexie Luan song "It Isn't Fair" comes next, as a dedication to Jed's Uncle Mel, lost to cancer just that week. A couple of rare covers show up after that, songs found often in early Jed setlists, but mostly shelved in recent years: Paul Simon's "Me And Julio" and Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide." It's a nice pairing, and it encapsulates the final, but longest jam of the night. With O.J. Simpson's passing and the current Trump trial on t.v., "So Much For O.J.": makes an inevtiable appearance, followed by AC/DC's "T.N.T." to close out the set on an explosive note. The two song encore sticks to cover tunes, featuring the Rolling Stones "Waiting On A Friend," followed by the classic J.J. Cole rocker "After Midnight."

This is a great recording of a high energy show with an interesting setlist, a little light on Jed-riginals, but full of classic cover songs, and including several nice jams. Definitely worth a spin! Enjoy!
