View NotesIt's a rainy Wednesday night at Odeen's in Carmel, NY with Jed Luckless! This is Jed's third time at the venue, and his live travelling show seems to have found a home base as it's been a monthly occurence since the beginning of the year. Jed opens with the classic GuRGLe era tune "The Freeze" followed by "The 86" with is soaring solo section giving Jed some room to fly. The gentle instrumental "Outside Looking In" comes next, followed by the Bob Dylan song "All Along The Watchtower" in the clean-up position. It hits a home run with an extended jam that finds its way into the title track from Jed's recent album "Multiply." Hed slows things down for a moment with Phish's "Waste" before closing out the first set on a high note with another cut from his new album "Forgot To Forget You." After a short break, Jed eases into second set with one more from th new album, the self-reflective "Time & Tide." He kicks things up a nothc with his pop-rocker "Still In Luv With U" which he opens up into another nice improv jam which segues nicely into "Lost In You" a fairly new song from his 2023 "AI Halloween" event. A little Grateful Dead segment comes next with the upbeat "Deal" (supposedly expecting Kenny Kaufman to make an appearance but it was not to be) paired with a beautiful tribute of "Black Muddy River" for recently deceased drummer Chris Yake of the GD themed band "Bob's Dead" which performed often at Odeens. It's back to Phish for the closer with the al;ways fun and frenetic "First Tube." Jed tacks on another GuRGLe era tune for the encore, the pastoral "Open Road." This is another great night at Odeen's and we're so psyched to see Jed taking his show out of the Jedstead and onto the road (even if it's only a few miles down the road!). There's alot of great stuff here, including the nice "86" solo, the "Watchtower" and "SILWU" jams, and something for both the Deadheads and the Phans. The "Black Muddy River" is quite special. Definitely a show worth checking out. Enjoy!
