View NotesThe Jed Luckless Band is back with round 3 of their March Madness 2024 run at The Mumbling Goat in Second Life bringing back-to-back show energy to the stage for an absolute blow-out. There was no light show, but an amazing crowd brought their energy to the event to light it up! The band opens with one from Jed's Tales of Halloweens Past event, the seafaring "Pirate Chaser," and then sails into more familiar ground with the JLB classic "The Freeze." Jed's socially emotional "I Love You" is up next, and it blossoms into a really nice improv jam before a segue into "Own," a JLB debut off Jed's new album. Kenny Kaufman takes the mic next on the Mark Gutenplan penned "FM Rock" which the band pairs with their first ever try at the Led Zeppelin classic "Over The Hills And Far Away." Tough tune to nail, but it's always fun when they tack on a new FM Rock classic to tackle. And of course they revisit the FM Rock reprise at the end of it. A really good version of the bluegrasser "Where The Mountains Meet The Sea" closes the first frame. Second set kicks off in classic JLB style with "Victim Of The Rhythm" which of course produces one of the longest jams of the night, before transitioning nicely into "Side Door," which is a really solid and powerful rendition. The fellas lighten things up netx with another classic "Queen Lucille," before launching into the alt-rock vibed "Always Alone," which spawns another very cool jam, featuring some awesome drum work from Pete Martine as it segues into the rare semi-instrumental oddity "Umbrella Man." Another JLB debut of GuRGLe era blues tune "Black Molly" follows, with Phish's "Suzy Greenberg" hot on its tail to finihs things out on a high note. The "very, very special" song "Ungratefully Dead" from Jed's new album puts an exclamation point on the evening. This is a fantastic show with a good mix of classics, newer stuff and debuts, along with a couple fun covers and some solid jams. It boasts really solid versions of tunes like "WTMMTS" and "Side Door" and the bustout "Umbrella Man" is a nice surprise. This one's well worth a spin. Enjoy!
