View NotesJammin Jed makes a 2024 Winter Tour stop on his home turf at Commune Utopia in Secondlife, where he maintains a treehouse home. The hometown crowd turned out in force for a lovely night on the beach, although unfortunately Moondance was not in attendance on lights. The show started late due to some storm related issues at the Jedstead and some tech problems with the stream, but once Jed gets going things heat up quickly. 

He opens things brightly with the uptempo "Angel" followed by the opening track from his new album "Time & Tide," which has been played quite heavily this tour. A cool instrumental called "The Hairdresser" shows up next, a great song but maybe a bit rusty. An older tune called "Jackie" bats cleanup in the setlist, and opens up into the first major jam of the night, which winds its way into a bluesy tune from Jed's Tales of Halloween past repertoire "Red Light." The epic tale of being on Phish tour "Ass Gas Or Grass" follows, with the first cover song of the night "Hard To Handle," closing out the first frame.

Second set opens with "Doesn't" which features a substantial solo section and also produces a massive improv jam that features some nice guitar interplay amongst a backdrop of organ and synth. A nice tremolo vibe transitions into "Own" another cut off jed's new album. A surprise pops up next, a rare Genesis cover of "Home By The Sea," which Jed jams out with his own take on "Second Home By The Sea." It's a fun treat considering what a Genesis fan Jed is and how rarely he plays anything by the band. It's back to his originals next with "The Story Of Shirtless Joe," followed by the psalm-inspired prog-rocker "Twelve." One more cut from the new album "Forgot To Forget You," closes the set, with a fun John Mellencamp cover in the encore slot with "Pink Houses."

This is a fun show on familiar ground and delivers some solid stuff despite a late, frenetic start. It boasts an interesting setlist with a couple of nice jams that are definitely worth a spin...and if you're a Genesis fan, "Home By The Sea" is a must listen. Enjoy!
