View NotesClueless Wallob returns to Flavor Fest in Walden, NY for another summertime set of Phish tunes! Band members Jed Luckless, Mark Mattson, Kenny Kaufman and Pete Martine opened up the fest's Saturday lineup, rousing campers from their tents and getting them splashing in the pool! Appropriately, they open the show with "Bathtub Gin," kicking things off with some nice jamming right from the start. The Gin jam slides effortlessly into "2001," a first timer for Clueless Wallob. It really gets the crowd going, and the fellas bring it back nicely to the Bathtub Gin refrain. The Trey Anastasio rocker "Set Your Soul Free" is up next, with Jed keeping the energy level high before turning the mic over to Kenny for "Mike's Song." The Mike's jam is hot and the break down at the end leads right into "Twist," but Jed breaks a guitar string early on so the song is aborted (and not included here). After a quick string change (during which Mark Mattson does his best lounge singer act to fill in), the band shifts to the title track from "Sigma Oasis," a great uplifitng tune which gets the crowd moving again. It was a 90+ degree day, and with sweat dripping over the instruments, Jed breaks another string, but this time manages to finish out the song. They decide to calm things down a bit with "Lonely Trip," but Jed breaks a third string, and although they do complete the tune, he unfortnutaely had to forgo what would have been a beautiful guitar solo. Done breaking strings, they launch into "Wolfman's Brother" with Mark Mattson leading them through the song and Pete Martine holding down a nice jam that shifts keys a few times, finding it's way back into C for an unpexpected "2001" tease before landing back on the signature Wolfman's ending to close to the set. A two song encore features "Gumbo" with Kenny on vocals and featuring some nice piano work from Mattson, along with the always fun closer "First Tube," to bring the set to an energetic end. This is a fun set of Phish delivered with gusto and heat by Clueless Wallob, featuring a great selection of songs and several nice jams. Enjoy!
