View NotesThe Jed Luckless Band returns to the stage for the first of two summertime shows in July of 2023! Night one was at The Mumbling Goat in SecondLife, but in a cool new spot on Lighthouse Island with a festival type setup. A small but enthusiastic crowd gathered on the virtual lawn! JLB kicks things off with one of their newer tunes, the high-energy "Rolling Waves," played for only the second time. They slide right into the heavenly "Listen To The Angels," followed by the band's classic pop-rocker "Still In Luv With U." The fan favorite "I Love You" is up next, and it opens up into the first extended jam of the night which spouts some soaring guitar lines before transitioning into the Gutenplan penned "Road Trip." Kenny Kaufman serves up some "Gumbo," before Jed brings the first set home with his bluegrass romper "Where The Mountains Meet The Sea." Second set opens with the JLB debut of a song called "Pirate Chaser" from Jed's 2022 Tales of Halloween Past concert. It's a cool addition to the band's repetoire and proves to be a good jam vehicle as they extend it to nearly fourteen mins with a melodic Allmans-y jam. It pairs nicely with "Side Door," which is delivered deftly here, albeit a bit speedy for its own good. The band pays tribute to Dead & Company's final show with a monster pairing of "Eyes Of The World" and "Stella Blue" with a hot jam and a really cool drums and space segment. "Ozone Blues" closes out the second frame, with "Geneva Sue" sailing in for the encore. This is a tight show with some great jams, a few of the band's newer tunes and an epic Grateful Dead centerpiece. Definitely worth a listen! Enjoy!
