View NotesJed's 2023 Winter Tour returns to Killiney Beach on Dublin in Secondlife for a two night weekend run! Jed last visited here in November 2021, and that weekend produced a "water" theme show as well as the epic show where the setlist spelled "Maserati" and Jed jammed a 46 minute version of the song. This time out, Jed has a few things up his sleeve too! He and Moondance set a great festival vibe on the beach, and a large energetic crowd gathered at sundown for the party! The show opens with "Queen Lucille" followed by the eccentric "Mr. Beaman," which Jed opens up into a lengthy improv jam, before a segue into the aptly paired "Miss Lizzy," followed by "Geneva Sue." Since these three songs are all Maine inspired, some people thought that might be the theme, but the rare "So Much For O.J." pops up next to foil that theory. It's not usually a jam vehicle, but Jed makes it one here, producing a nice jam that slides into a bouncy "Jackie." The first cover of the night, Paul Simon's "Me And Julio" closes the set. Second set opens with "The Story of Shirtless Joe" which also produces a nice jam before giving way to "Nicole," a GuRGLe era song Jed has never played live solo before, and has not made any appearance in several decades. It's a beautiful tune written by Robert Varkony. Another GuRGLe song "Black Molly" swims up next. At this point some people were guessing women's names as the theme, but a quick reminder about Joe and OJ bust that notion. Still the crowd is clueing in at this point to the set being about "people." The rest of the night features a series of cover songs that blend together quite well, starting with the Grateful Dead's "Samson And Delilah" with a nice drum oriented jam that slides effortlessly into a fantastic version of the Beatles "Dear Prudence." The energetic Phish song "Suzy Greenberg" is a perfect set closer, and the Allman's "Sweet Melissa" puts a final exclamation point on the "name game" theme. Also included with the recording is a cool soundcheck jam. This is high energy show with super fun theme resulting in a great selection of songs, but also with several really hot jams throughout. The last three songs of the second set have a particular energy to them which really cooks. This is a must listen show at a venue that is clearly a favorite of Jed and the Jed Heads! Enjoy!
