View NotesIt's night two of a two-night stand at The Mumbling Goat in Secondlife on Jed's 2023 Winter Tour! Jed and Moonie are back for another show at one of their favorite venues, rocking a packed house and lighting things up with Moonvision! The show opens at a full clip with the speed rocker "Maserati," which pumps everybody right up! It slides effortlessly into "Moved To the Country," which apparently was a premonition of the venue owner. Jed goes historical and deep next, with his civil-war era rocker "2000 Pikes" and the first big jam of the night with it's driving rhythm underscroing keyboard and guitar solos. It segues into a strong version of the poignant instrumental "Meredith" before Jed lightens things up with a shaky take on Rick Springlfield's "Jessie's Girl." A solid version of The GuRGLE era pastoral "Open Road" is up next, followed by the set closer, a dedication of "Geneva Sue" to Jed's friend from Maine, Trick. The first set may have been a bit short, but Jed makes up for it in set two, kicking it off with a 23+ minute "Give It Back" jam that features a strong back beat and wicked guitar lines. The jam slides nicely into a rare version of "The Caravan," an instrumental from Jed's Luna Suite not played since early 2021. "Lightship" is up next, and as usual Jed seems to struggle with some of the chord progressions, but still delivers a powerful solo section. The Talking Heads "Psycho Killer" rises next with an uncharacteristic improv jam that is one of the highlights of the night with its lofty, soaring guitar melodies. It lands perfectly in the sentimental "Sunlight" off Jed's 2011 "All At Once" album. The set wraps up with one of the best all-time closers ever, Cailidgh Spires' "The Song With Words And Stuff," and Jed tacks on a nice mellow take on the Grateful Dead and Jesse Fuller's "Beat It On Down The Line." This is another fantastic show at the Mumbling Goat, featuring a great setlist, some really strong jamming, a couple of rarities and an overall high-energy feel good vibe! Enjoy!
