View NotesThe Jed Luckless Europe Tour makes a detour to New Zealand for this awesome show at a beautiful venue called the Mystic Theatre! A packed house was in attendance, but unfortunately the light rig didn't make it. Justine Johndory opened the night with an awesome set of acoustic tunes and then Jed took the stage for two sets of his rocking originals and jams! Jed opens things up with the poppy love tune "Angel," a farily newer addition to his repetoire from deep in his catalog. "The Kid That Tried To Fly" makes an early appearance in the second slot with it's liftoff end section that is typically a set or show closer. As a result Jed busts a string right out of the gate, but after a quick fix, he's back on stage with the inuendo laced rocker "Homewrecker." He waits until the clean-up spot to introduce the first big jam of the night, coming out of out moe's "Happy Hour Hero." It's a twenty minute jam that settles down into the cautionary addiction tale "Side Door," with it's fiery guitar riffs. The bouncy "Used To Feel Good" closes out the first frame. Second set opens with a couple of Jed's pandemic era tunes, "The Last Show" and "End Of Time," joined by a monster jam that is one of the longest of the tour, featuring an uptempo improv with multiple sections and even an "Odd Couple" tease. Outlier "Go Away" shows up next, with another fantastic melodic jam that segues into the popular set closer "By And Bye." A special Juneteenth encore perfectly features the Grateful Dead's "Liberty." This is a hot show at a cool first time Jed Tour venue with a great crowd and awesome energy. Any show with a four song second set is well worth a listen. Enjoy!
