View NotesIt's night two on Killiney Beach in Secondlife as Jed and Moonie bring the heat for a Sunday show on Jed's 2023 Winter Tour that you definitely did not want to miss! In keeping with the 2021 shows at Killiney, Jed once again crafts some fun themes, and this show is another spelling show! Last time Jed spelled "Maserati" and then launched into a 46 minute second set Maserati opener. He does the same type of thing here, but this time spells out "Sugar Pop" with the setlist! The show opens with "Send Me A Pacakge" one of Jed's Covid-era isolation tunes and it's a great rocking vibe to start things off. He mellows things out a bit with "Uprooted" which features some nice bass synth effects. Jed ramps it up again with "Give It Up" followed by the live debut of a bouncy song called "Angel" recovered from Jed's archive and not played in about three decades! After a brief update on the setlist theme, Jed delivers two songs from his 2022 Halloween concert, the bluesy "Red Light" which featured an amazingly hellish light show from Moondance Parx, and the adventurous "Pirate Chaser." Next up is "On Hold," followed by the first cover of the night, Phish's bluegrassy "Poor Heart," which finally gives away the theme as fans figured out (with some heavy handed clues from Jed) that the setlist spelled "Sugar Pop." Of course, second set opens with "Sugar Pop" which develops slowly, but stretches to over 52 minutes! It's a complex pastiche of improv that includes high energy guitar work, spacey ambient sections and catchy melodic movements. When a jam is this long, it becomes a bit transcendant, and the crowd was taken on a trip, going wild when the "Sugar Pop" refrain re-appears at the end of the epic jam. At the Maserati show in 2021, Jed added "DUI" to the setlist, and this time he tacks on "YUM" which goes well with the Sugar Pop breakfast cereal theme! The additional spelling accounts for "You Touched Me" which is a nice cool down after the Sugar Pop jam, a nice version of the Grateful Dead's "Uncle John's Band" and the song everyone loves to hate but seems appropriate here, "My Kid." Included with the recording here is the soundcheck jam. This will sure to be a show that goes down in Jed history with one of his longest jams ever on one of the fans most favorite songs. It's a must listen second set, but don't snooze on the first set, which although it's slim on jams, it's big on feels. Another great show at this cool, unique venue! Enjoy!
