View NotesThe Jed Luckless 2023 Winter Tour kicked off on January 23, 2023 at the legendary Hotel Chelsea venue in Secondlife! This was the first of ten shows on the tour and it was a packed house at the Hotel. Due to fire codes, there was no light show, but the crowd made up for it by giving off their own electric vibes! Jed opens it up with "Victim Of The Rhythm," explaining later that the basis for the song was a live improv jam at his very first show at the Hotel in 2009. It also give him the opportunity to start the tour off by diving right into a deep jam featuring drums, keys and searing guitar lines. It segues nicely into "The Hairdresser," the whistling instrumental from the 'Outside Looking In' soundtrack. The poignant "Some Notes On Lying" is up next, followed by "The 86" with it's lofty jam section shining here. It's a trip back in time next with the GuRGLe era "Cash Me In," and Jed closes the set with his debut of a pair of Ghost Light covers, "Take Some Time" and "Best Kept Secret" with a nice jam in between. Second set opens with "The Need For Love" which extends to a eighteen minute jam featuring a substantial "Carry On" tease, the first of a few tributes to David Crosby that Jed includes in the second half. The jam slides nicely into the bluesy "Old Town Hall," which seems like it's describing the current situation. The Velvet Underground song "Rock And Roll" amps things up with another extended jam that features synth and wah-wah which leads into a gritty take on the CSN&Y song "Ohio." A tune from Jed's 2022 Halloween show makes it's post-Halloween debut in the set closing spot, the fun and poppy "Growing Up In The 80s." The encore features one more nod to the late, great David Crosby with a touching rendition of "Our House."
