Here's another one from the Jed Luckless 2019 Fall Tour performed on 10/24/19 at Nantucket Yacht Club in Secondlife. This ended up being the penultimate Jed show on the tour, with several cancellations having been announced just prior to showtime. So as Jed said "we need to make the most of this show," and so everyone did! A crowd of fifty people turned out for music by Jed and lights by Moondance Parx at one of their favorite venues to play. The SL cheerleaders were there in force and they are great dancers! The show starts out with a cover song, the Trey Anasastion funkster "Set Your Soul Free," and it seems like a message from Jed for the night ahead. He jumps into originals next, with the blueser "Black Molly," followed by the historical rocker "2000 Pikes," with one of the longest jams of the night, leading into a rare "Nothing Left To Say." Both are great versions, and the jam in between build methodically to a great peak before descending into echoing ambience. The Robert Hunter dedication comes early in the form of "He's Gone," and another funky Phish tune, "Gotta Jiboo" ends the first half. With his Hallo-ween show cancelled, Jed opens second set with "The Pumpkin Song" the traditional closer at the Hallo-ween event. It's a fun way to start, but he gets serious next (maybe too serious) with a pair from his Luna compostion, including the title track "Luna" and it's paired narrative instrumental "The Courier." It ends abruptly (due to a technical issue), but Jed just rolls on into an improv jam that is one of the highlights of the show. Labelled "Nantucket Jam" here, it clocks in at 17 minutes and features some nice organ and synth work. Another Phish song pops up next with "My Sweet One," and it presents Jed with another opportunity to honor Hallo-ween tradition with a mid-song story. This one seems unprepared and rambling, like one a "sstoner" might tell, but it's fun nonetheless and a nice nod to this years lost Hallo-ween. Jed regroups with one of his favorite set closers "The Kid That Tried To Fly," delivering a powerful climax to the second half of the show. A double encore features one more Hunter tune with "Liberty" and a fun upbeat "Rocky Top" to close the show. This is a super fun show with a great energy generated by the crowd. Some of the tunes are hit or miss, but there are a few standouts like "2000 Pikes> Nothing" and "Gotta Jibboo." The second set jam is also worth a listen. Enjoy!
