View NotesIt's the JLB 2019 March Madness Final Round! Part of the Jed Luckless Band's three show run at Nantucket Yacht Club in Secondlife, here's the third and final show from April 2, 2019. Half the band had been missing last time out, so it was great to have the full team in place for this one, and you can tell they were eager to get back to the game, delivering a high performance show and fielding numerous championship jams. First set starts out with a cover tune, moe.'s "Happy Hour Hero," and it's nice, sultry way to ease into things. But the band is there to play, as they stretch the jam out nicely before pumping up the crowd with "Old Town Hall," a rock and roller that the band has only played a couple times. Mark Gutenplan takes the mic next for a rendition of Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower," which also spawns a serious jam. The band slows things down with an off-season "Celebrate Instead" before Kenny Kaufman grabs the mic for the Talking Head's song "Cities" which features yet another three point jam, the third in the first half of the show! But it's not quite over yet, as the band slides seamlessly into a sweet and crunchy "Sugar Pop" to end the first set. Second set starts off with a vroom! as the band rolls out the "Maserati" for the first time in a while. It's a hot version and immediately gives the band momentum at the start of the second half. They take advantage of it, launching into over fifty minutes of uninterrupted music! It starts with a sixteen minute "Give It Back" that features Pete Martine leading a full band percussion solo. The drums wind their way into the instrumental "Valley Of The Saints" which devolves into a long, spacey segment. The band emerges on the other side with a tease of Phish's "Back On The Train" before locking into some "Gumbo" instead. Mark's ivories lead nicely into his travelogue "Road Trip," which delivers the third fast-break jam in the second set! A high energy "Sneaking Sally Through The Alley" wraps up the half, and the ever-popular Cailidgh Spires closer "The Song With Words And Stuff" seals the win with a last minute dunk. This is an amazing capper to the JLB's 2019 March Madness run, with no less than SIX championship level jams, a couple of rare JLB songs, several hot cover tunes and a top notch performance from a full squad executing at their peak! Definitely worth many listens. Enjoy!
