View NotesThe Jed Luckless Band is back for the second of three shows at The Goat in Secondlife during October 2019. After a fiasco with the lights at the first show, the band took the "stage" higher in the mountains on an Army-issue flatbed truck. It was a remote spot, perfect for a night full of rockin tunes and amazing lights. The show opens with the JLB classic "Far Gone Blues," easing the crowd into things before blasting off with the rocker "Give It Back," which the band uses to warm up their jam chops before a nice segue into the instrumental "Valley Of The Saints," featuring Pete Martine laying down the middle eastern rhythms. The first of two Phish tunes comes up next as the band plays with some "Sand," mixing it up with a springy version of Jed's typically poignant "Celebrate Instead." An energetic "Geneva Sue" is the perfect ender to a short first set. Second set is juicy though, opening with the Mark Gutenplan song "Remember This Night," which often produces great improv jams, living up to that reputation here with a dueling guitar rocker that weaves its way right into the staccato opening of "Moved To The Country." Kenny Kaufman takes over the set next, leading the vocals on Mark's "FM Rock," (with a Hendrix tease from Jed) and then continuing with his own composition "Saw Mill River" which features a bubbling jam of its own. Ken's not done yet, as the band launches into a Grateful Dead segment featuring Roberth Hunter's "Eyes of the World" paired with "Going Down The Road Feeling Bad," and a suprise "Not Fade Away." Eyes produces a nice jam, the last of the night as the boys move onto a Phish closer, "Suzy Greeberg," and tack on one more Robert Hunter dedication with "Ripple." This is a tight JLB show with great sound and a great setlist, feauting something for everyone: classic originals, wild jams, Grateful Dead and Phish covers and more! Enjoy!
