View NotesHere is a very special show from the Jed Luckless 2019 World Tour! Not only is it a return to the Feed A Smile venue where the Jed Heads always raise a ton of money to feed children in Kenya, but somehow a rift in the time space continuum creates a unique anomlay and a show not likely to repeat again in any dimension! Jed is joined by Moondance Parx on particles which is a good thing because they need light where they are going! Everything starts out fairly normal. With Jed's sci-fi opener "Ozone Blues," which perhaps is indicative of what's to come. All systems are go, until the solo, when Jed busts an E-string on blastoff. It's catastrophic and leads to a full guitar swap. Jed tries to keep the voyage going, following "The Caravan" into space and toward "Luna" and the moon. But "baby blue" can't take the g-forces and Jed is forced to improvise a free-fall string change, which opens a rift in time and space. We emerge on the other side of the rift, at the familiar "Old Town Hall" back on planet Earth. After a brief set break Jed returns for a "long second set" and he isn't kidding. Long maybe, but only three songs. Jed opens the set with a dedication to Trey Anastasio in memory of Leigh Fordham who had just passed away. Leigh Fordham was a Phish crew member who was immortlized in the Phish song "46 Days," and Jed delivers an epic version in his honor. "Jed said let's do a 46 minute 46 days. 20 minutes in I was like, oh shoot he's not kidding," said Moondance Parx. It's just short of the 46 minute mark but wow, what a musical voyage it is, passing through at least ten or so different movements, some bouncy and upbeat, some ambient and intense, but all flowing together to create an amazing piece of improvisational music with drums, keyboards and guitar. Jed brings it back home to the "46 Days" refrain at the end, before seguing into Phish's "Sleeping Monkey" to cap it off. A brief encore follows, Jed's original "Slipping Through My Hands" a reflection on plans and the passing of time. This is a wonderfully unique concert event, featuring a wild performance from Jed Luckless with an incredible amount of improvisation and experimentation. If you're a fan of Jed's "Luna" suite, the first set is for you. If you like it when Jed gets weird, check out the "Time/Space Jam." And whether you are a Phish fan or not, set aside three quarters of an hour and give the "46 Days" a listen. It's a journey worth taking! Enjoy!
