View NotesThe Jed Luckless Band continues their 2019 March Madness run at Nantucket Yacht Club in Secondlife, with this second of three shows in the run. Like any good tourney, this one's not without surprises, as Pete Martine is benched last minute with a knee injury. But Jed, Mark and Ken carry on the show as a trio, with a variety of instrumental configurations. First set starts out with some acoustic tunes, including a jazzy take on the JLB classic "The Freeze" along with Led Zeppelin's "Going To California." Kenny Kaufman takes the vocals on Mark Gutenplan's "FM Rock" and Jed leads it into a Peter Tork tribute with "Last Train To Clarksville." Mark takes the mic for Bob Dylan's "She Belongs To Me," before the band switches things up, with Kenny moving to the drums and Mark picking up the bass for the last two tunes of the set, the JLB originals "Listen To The Angels" and "Queen Lucille," with one of the evening's hot jams in between. Secnd set brings another March Madness surprise as we get word of a technical foul on Ken, who has to leave the game immediately. But Jed and Mark carry on, doing a great job delivering the rest of the show as a duo. The set starts our with the Grateful Dead song "Loser," and then the pair launch into the original "2000 Pikes" spawns a nice jam with a long solo from mark and some funky drums laid down by Jed. The jam segues into a nice version of Jed's travelogue "Valley Of The Saints." A JLB debut hits next, a new unnamed instrumental tune from Mark, delivered as a peaceful guitar duet that slides effortlessly into the Velvet Underground's "Rock And Roll." The Lou Reed classic gives way to one more hot jam with drums and loops and lots of energy, before the band brings it home with "Still In Love With U." A mellow take on the common encore "Used To Feel Good" wraps up the music for the night. This is a wild ride of a show, living up to the March Madness moniker, with last minute lineup changes, instrumentation rearrangements and surpise play calls! Worth a listen to hear some very different takes on your favorite JLB tunes. Enjoy!
