View NotesThis one was a "pick-up" show on the Jed Luckless 2019 World Tour to make up for a postponement. It took place on May 15, 2019 at Commune Utopia in Second Life, where the beach was packed, the lights were bright and the music was hot! The show opens surprisingly with a newer instrumental tune from Jed named "DPG," which recently entered rotation. It's a lofty number and a nice way to kick off the event, with a catchy melody and an uplifting vibe. A bit of Civil War history crops up next with "2000 Pikes" which produces a nice but short jam before a transition into Jed's first repeat of the tour after six shows, the blues tune "Black Molly." Things get real quiet next with a great version of Jed's "Nothing Left To Say." The first cover song of the evening is next, and it may be the highlight of the entire show! It's the Talking Head's "Cities," an appropriate one for World Tour and Jed certainly travels the globe with it, jamming it our to nearly twenty-two minutes. It's a mesmerizing jam featuring layers of sound and incredible, melodic guitar riffs. There's just enough gas left in Jed's tank to wrap up the first set with the bluesy "Roll Over." Second set starts off strong with the peppy original "Go Away," featuring a lengthy jam that seems to pick up right where "Cities" left off. It's paired with the poignant gambler's tune "Cash Me In," and it's a nice version of a classic Jed tune. But it's back to covers next, with a wicked pairing of Dylan and Zeppelin! The twenty-four minute piece of music starts with a rocking version of "All Along The Watchtower" featuring several hot solos and a drum driven jam that takes off before drifting off into the mist. From out of the smoke emerges a surprising "Four Sticks," the tribal Led Zeppelin song which Jed has played before at his Jed Zeppelin shows. he delivers a powerfully vocal version here. Jed turns back to originals with the story tune "Ten Ounces," an instrumental from the "Eco" CD called "Autumn Ally," and the bouncy "Forgot to Forget You" to close the set. After a few thank you's Jed treats us to the third GuRGLe era tune of the night, the pastoral and hopeful "Open Road" encore. This is a fantastic show from start to finish, and possibly the best of the tour. Jed is on fire right out of the gate and his jams are totally dialed in throughout. It's a cover heavy show with some amazing versions of classic rock tunes, like the "Cities" jam and "Watchtower>Four Sticks" which are must listens. But don't skip the very good versions of "Nothing Left To Say" and "Cash Me In" and definitely check out the new instrumental "DPG." Enjoy!
