View NotesJammin Jed's 2019 Fall Tour makes a stop on home turf, at the Commune Utopia, playing on the sand under the moon and stars with a great crowd in attendance and a killer light show from Moondance Parx.

The show starts out with a crashing wave as Jed jumps right in with "The Story Of Shirtless Joe" and his stand on the sand. It's a nice way to pump up the energy, and Jed eases into "Jackie" in the second slot. A Commune favorite "Alignments" is next, Jed's homage to fantasy roleplaying games, followed by the wispy "Lightship" which features a rocking solo section and also produces the first blustery jam of the night. It's a sweet improv that starts out with a drum solo and takes off into an upbeat rhythm with soaring guitar riffs. It comes down into some nice vibrato vibes before bouncing into the reggae beat of "Hurtful Things" a relatively new Jed tune. The first cover song of the night follows, and it's one from Jed's good friend and fellow Secondlife musician Lexie Luan, her poignant commentary "It Isn't Fair." Jed wraps up the set with a prayer in the form of his ambitious prog-rocker "Twelve."

Second set kicks off with a pair of GuRGLe era tunes, easing into the ride with the sad tale of "Old Man Miller" and taking it to the longest jam of the night, a bouncy percussive rhythm with synthy undertones and a groovy refrain that peaks with echoing guitar riffs. "Cash Me In" slows things down for a minute. This tour Jed has performed a Robert Hunter in each show, and this time it's "Here Comes Sunshine," with a nice solo section. The cover tunes keep coming with a pair of Phish songs including an "Everything's Right"  that settles into a nice wah-wah jam with trancey piano. It emerges from the haze into a foggy "All Of These Dreams." The set wraps up with Jed's blue-grassy "Slippin Through My Hands," and he tacks on one more Phish song in the encore postion, the nostalgic travellogue "Farmhouse."

This is a fun show with the feeling of a riptide, ebbing and flowing with the energy amongst a swirling sea of songs mixed with powerful jams that sweep you away. Defintely worth a listen especially for the Lightship, Miller and Everything's Right jams. Enjoy!
