View NotesJed Luckless is back for his 2019 Fall Tour, featuring 14 shows in Secondlife with live webcasts from Jedstead studios! The tour opener took place at a venue called The Dome in Secondlife, which is the home stadium for Moondance Parx and her PoofnGroovy light show! For those in Secondlife this added extra visual awesomeness. But wherever you were tuned in from, this show provided tasty sounds too, featuring several hot jams and a couple nice tribute tunes. It starts off gently, with "Time And Tide." Jed's using a brand new guitar for the first time at this show, which he introduces as "Brown Eagle." She certainly soars in the song's middle jam section as Jed pumps up the energy level immediately. He eases back with the darkly funny "Throw It Down The Hill," before gunning it again with the bouncy "Doesn't" with one of the longest jams of the night, and a sublime middle jam portion featuring another flight of the "eagle" over accompanying organ. The jam has a nice rhythm to it and an underlying ambience that gives it weight. Jed spends some time on the drum kit before switching back to some searing guitar riffs. The jam transitions abruptly into the opening of "Some Notes on Lying" with a sweet guitar lead intro. It's a quiet song, with a powerful bridge that Jed makes the most of here. The set closer is a nice long version of the Robert Hunter penned "Foolish Heart." Jed opens second set with a groovy version of "Give It Back" which lives up to it's jam vehicle status by producing the longest jam of the night. It picks up quickly with a nice backbeat on the drums and bouncy keys supporting some nice guitar work including a "Foolish Heart" tease. It breaks down into a darker ambient jam featuring a nice "leslie" effect on the guitar and some rare slide work from Jed. It "slides" into the semi-instrumental "Umbrella Man," which again gives the new guitar "Brownie" a chance to shine. Jed keeps it rocking with the west-coast inspired "Latest Craze" and yet another improv jam that's over ten minutes. It's paired with "Sunlight" otherwise known as "Christina's song." Trey Anastasio's intense "About To Run" follows and Jed does his best to belt it out, before moving into the more upbeat and fun "Ass Gas or Grass," Jed's blue-grassy original about Phish tour. He keeps the Phish theme going with a nice version of "Prince Caspian" that builds progressively to a climax with drums, piano and guitar over eleven minutes. Jed wraps up the set with one more Robert Hunter tribute, the poignant "Ripple." Of course there's a high energy encore, the always rocking Phish cover "First Tube." This is a great kick-off to what promises to be another great tour from Jammin Jed Luckless and definitely worth a listen for the outstanding jams, the Robert Hunter tributes and to check out the sweet tone on Jed's new guitar! Enjoy!
