View NotesIt's the tenth anniversary of Jammin Jed's Phish Bowl!! This legendary event has been occurring every year for a decade now, on the eve before Super Bowl, as a tribute to music and sport, celebrating the band Phish and the game of Football. As always the show features the spectacle of the big game, but this year Jed is joined by Kasvot Vaxt tribute band "Clueless Wallob" playing two sets of Phish covers amidst the fanfare of Phish Bowl X's fireworks, flyovers and halftime extravaganzas!

The show starts off in usual fashion with a larger than life introduction and the singing of the National Anthem with fireworks and a special flyover commemorating WWII pilots. The band sounds great right out of the gate with "Turtle in The Clouds" kicking off the game proper. They keep it rolling right into "Chalkdust Torture" which opens up into the first tasty jam of the evening, and winds it's way into the bouncy "Get Back On The Train." After a brief Phish Bowl box pool score update, the unit summons "Ghost" and pairs it nicely with "Bouncing Around THe Room" and a plucky jam.

The band pauses for introductions before tackling the obligatory Bob Marley birthday tune that has become a tradition within the tradition. This year it's "Soul Shakedown Party" and it's a fun one with a brief drum solo from Pete Martine. The set wraps up with keyboardist Mark Mattson leading the vocals on "Wolfman's Brother" featuring another one of the night's hotter jams.

The Phish Bowl X Halftime show featured a live performance by Star-Menna, who kept the crowd rocking through the break with her high energy renditions of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Soak Up The Sun" and a heart-felt dedication of "Chasing Cars." The Phish Bowl X Trophy Presentation followed and this year's prize was awarded to 12/29/18 at Madison Square Garden, known to many as the "Wolfman's Party" but known to Jed as the "Corinna" show.

Clueless Wallob returns to the stage for the second half, kicking it off with a hot walk in the "Sand" then cooling it down with the wispy "Waste." Bassist Kenny Kaufman finally takes the lead mic on "Mike's Song" which the band rocks out before crashing into "Possum" at full speed. A brief stop for some "Gumbo" find Kenny singing another one, before Mark Mattson takes us on a scenic tour of "Cities" with the longest jam of the night, before a hard right turn into "Sneaking Sally." The set closes with a cardio-pumping "Character Zero" but the band still finds the energy for a "First Tube" encore.

This is another great Phish Bowl in a decade long tradition of celebrating the music of Phish and the spectacle of football. The addition of "Clueless Wallob" to the mix, along with a live halftime act and all the usual fanfare make Phish Bowl X one for the ages!
