View NotesThe Jed Luckless Band continues their 2018 March Madness event at Nantucket Yacht Club in Secondlife! This is the second of three shows and it's the perfect middle act for a rockin run at this seaside virtual venue. The band is joined by special guest Liam Brennan on the harmonica, and his presence is immediately felt in the show opener, Jed's original "Ozone Blues." Kenny Kaufman take the vocal lead next with a cover of the Talking Head's "Cities" paired nicely here with the Gutenplan vehicle "Road Trip." The jam between the two songs features nice dueling guitars from Jed and Mark over thundering beats by Pete Martine on the drum kit. The bluesy vibe of the show continues next with "Queen Lucille" followed by another cover, the moe. song "Happy Hour Hero." It's a solid version that gives way to the lenghtiest jam of the night before moving into "Celebrate Instead," which is performed with an unexpectedly bouncy rhythm. The New England themed "Geneva Sue" rounds out the first set. Second set kicks off strongly with "Victim Of The Rhythm" which the band jams out heavily, fast-paced riffs followed by a rockin rhythm and smooth transition into the newer JLB original "Moved To The Country," which sounds great here with the added harmonica. A gentle version of the Larry Greenblatt-Mark Gutenplan penned "FM Rock" explodes into a Jimi Hendrix tease, after which the band settles into a sultry version of the usually high paced "Story Of Shirtless Joe." It's an interesting take on the tune, and it produces one of the more mystical jams of the evening before shifting into the Luckless pop tune "Still In Luv With U." A fun version of the Robert Palmer-Phish covered "Sneaking Sally Through The Alley" closes the set. A special encore pays tribute to the eighties and Prince, on the anniversary of his passing, with a "Purple Rain" sing-along. This is a bluesy show with some nice jams and a few interesting and different takes on JLB classics, with the harmonica adding a nice touch throughout. Enjoy!
