View NotesThis one was a last minute addition to the Jed Luckless 2018 Back Again Tour, about nine shows into the schedule. The Commune is always a fun venue, and Jed is joined by his partner in lights, Moondance Parx, and an energetic crowd of Communers and Jed Heads. As with ALL the shows on this tour, Jed opens with his original "Back Again." You can tell he's having fun with it at this point, as he teases the Grateful Dead's "Don't Ease Me In," for a brief moment. In the second position is a tune Jed seems to play alot at Commune, his so called "D&D" tune, "Alignments." The first and longest jam of the night opens things up next featuring a melodic mix of guitar riffs that evolve out of "On The Shelf," a song from Jed's 2010 "All At Once" album. It's paired with a cut off his 2016 "Roll Over" album, the short downeasterner "Barter Creek." A debut is next, a fun instrumental called "The Hairdresser" from a movie soundtrack Jed composed. He ends the first set with a dedication featuring the Phish song "Blaze On," with a wicked jam followed by his own solo-duet "Secret Language." Second set begins with Jed's rocker "Give It Back," which as expected, produces a triptastic jam. Jed's reaching pretty far back into his catalog for this show, with "The Need For Love," "Open Road," "Cash Me In," and "Slowly Fades" all dating back several decades. Mixed in along the way are a couple of songs from Jed's Luna Suite, the anti-establishment "Incorporation" and its partner instrumental "The ARC," as well as a nice jam into "Uprooted" and a hot "First Tube" closer dedicated to Jonathan Schwartz, the General of Jam and host of Gone Phishin on Sirius Xm Radio. Jed caps off the show with an 80's encore in keeping with the other shows on the tour, this time the Human League's "Dont You Want Me, Baby." This is a fun show, full of obscure Jed tunes, song debuts, rockin jams and a few nice ones for the phans! Enjoy!
