View NotesIt's the JLB Fall Tour 2018 opening show, performed at Nantucket Yacht Club in Secondlife on September 4, 2018. This was the first of six shows on th tour, and it was being recorded by Jedtainment. You can sense a slightly different vibe throughout the show, but the result is two tight sets that highlight a great new batch of original songs from JLB! The show opens with the Jed classic "Ozone Blues," which seemed appropriate given the temperature that night. The follow-up is another blues tune "Far Gone Blues" featuring Mark Gutenplan on second guitar. The band relaxes and opens it up a bit on "Give It Back" next, with one of the few jams of the evening tacked on, which leads to a nice segue into the instrumental "Valley Of The Saints," driven nicely on the drums by Pete Martine. The bluesy vibe continues next with Jed's "Moved To The Country," and a special dedication of the Phish song "Sand," wraps up the first set. Second set opens with the short but speedy rocker "Maserati," which the band played twice for Jedtainment's sake (but only the second one is included here). Kenny Kaufman takes the lead on a nice version of the Guteplan original "FM Rock," followed by the Luckless tune "Used To Feel Good." The band takes a breath, relaxing with a bit of Grateful Dead, but "Fire On The Mountain" doesn't last long, and they turn quickly into their funk rocker "Sugar Pop." Jed's civil war history tune "2000 PIkes" is up next, followed by the band's calypso style original and awesome show closer, "By and Bye." A fun Grateful Dead encore features "Deal" for the heads in the crowd and puts a great exclamation point on a fun show. If you like JLB's originals, this is a great show to give a listen to, with really good sound that highlights the band's songs and vocals. Enjoy!
