View NotesThe Jed Luckless Band returns to the stage on a Friday night at McGuire's Ale House in Newtown, CT where they deliver an energetic set of originals and covers for a crowd of friends and family come from far and wide. The set opens with the Jed Luckless song "Far Gone Blues" as the band locks into a heavy rock and roll rhythm right off the bat. The Grateful Dead shows up quickly with "Eyes Of The World" in the second position featuring one of the few jams of the night. It works it's way back into JLB original territory with "Victim Of The Rhythm," followed by the Mark Gutenplan song "Remember This Night." Some covers are up next with Phish's popular "Bouncing Around The Room" followed by the CSN&Y protest song "Ohio." The second half of the set features a triple play of originals, starting with Jed's "The Freeze," followed by Mark's "Road Trip" featuring a fun bass solo from Kenny Kaufman. The funk rocker "Sugar Pop" wraps up the originals for the night and the band moves into a combo of Phish and Dead, with the Trey Anastasio tune "Sand" and the Jerry Garcia song "Loser" paired with a nice long jam driven hard by drummer Pete Martine. The show closes with guest Dave Kessler on vocals belting out an energetic "Mighty Quinn." It's a fun show from JLB and great to have them back on the local stage. Enjoy!
