View NotesHere's a recording from the Jed Luckless show on 12/4/18 at a venue in Secondlife called Panorama. The show was part of Jed's "500 Tour" which celebrated Jed 500 shows since 2009. The show opens with the bouncy "Back Again," reminiscent of Jed's "Back Again" tour, where every show on the tour opened with this tune. After a brief introduction, Jed continues the music with "On The Shelf" a reflective song off his 2010 "All At Once" album. He digs a little deeper next with the rocker "Give It Up," and a good explanation of the writing process. It produces the the first hot jam of the night a progessive-like improv featuring some nice synth, that give ways to Jed's 'French' instrumental "Doigter." It seems like Jed is having an interesting show in that he seems to be very self-reflective throughout, but he lightens things up with a re-working of the Adam Sandler holiday classic "The Hannukah Song" updating it for 2018. The reflection conitnues, but with a cover of a song Mark Gutenplan wrote about his daughter, the poignant "Remember This Night." As usual Jed jams it out with a nice improv that includes a "Hava Nagila" tease. He closes out the first frame with his bluegrassy original "Where The Mountains Meet The Sea." Second set opens strongly with Jed's original "Go Away" which includes a rockin jam before making a left turn into the 'kind of true' "Story Of Shirtless Joe." A dediction to NYC music legend Perry Robinson is next, featuring an extended "Eyes of The World," paired with Jed's memorial tune "Smile Forever," which he delivers on the piano. The mostly instrumental "Umbrella Man" is up next followed by a deep cut from Jed's catalog, the 90's era "Slowly Fades," which features a groovy backbeat and produces another fantastic jam loaded with synthesizer. The jam winds down into a nice vibrating ambience before transition into the emotional "Feel" to end the set. Jed ends things up an up note with the Trey Anastasio tune "Cayman Review" in the encore slot. This is a "weird show" as Jed calls it, but it features many great original tunes and several really hot jams. The Grateful Deadication is very special, and hearing Jed play "Smile Forever" on piano is a treat. And of course, it includes the historic re-visioning of "The Hannukah Song." Enjoy!
