Matrix by Hunter Seamons using Final Cut Pro (FLAC > AIFF > Final Cut w/EQ > AIFF CD tracking via Audacity > FLAC16 via xACT w/meta-tagging) December 26, 2023
Taper Notes:
View NotesNotes: Rob Eaton and Jeff Silberman's Neumann u87 Dat recording, #10035 (6/11/02), patches additional sections between songs in the AUD to maintain a continuous AUD track in the matrix. Tuning sections were trimmed. There's an abrupt cut at the very beginning of Minglewood Blues. Lamarre's recording adds some deep, resonant bass that is much needed for these particular SBD mixes. There was some pretty extended high end (treble) for these Philly shows that was EQ'd as needed with respect to each source. The SBD CM or reel generation must have had an old Jerry show on it that was taped over, probably from '74 or'75. The likely Jerry & Merl show is subtly bleeding through in the left channel, but it is only really noticeable during some quiet parts in the recording. I didn't realize this was the actual issue until the Don't Need Love > Drums transition, where you can hear a performance of Tough Mama. This bleeding effect can also be detected at times in the first set as well, mainly as a subtle rumbling sound. It can be heard a little more during Drums/Space and might be a bit distracting during this portion of the show.

View NotesVery End of Throwing Stones, Not Fade Away & Brokedown Palace from LMA. Source: Neumann U87's (cardioid) > Sony Pro Mixer > Technics SV100 PCM > DAT > CDR. Transition from Throwing Stones > NFA Cool Edit Pro (amplification & mix). I was very sick that evening and really had no business being there. I was really off this evening. I started the second set on the second side of the wrong tape so I didn't have the extra I would normally have. Actually really needed a third tape. Then I could have gone without the patch.
