It's the 13th annual Jed Luckless Halloween concert, an event famous for it's fun themes throughout the years, and this year Jed revisits them all with Jammin Jed's Tales Of Halloweens Past! Using a new technology in Secondlife called "Moonvision" (in honor of inventor Moondance Parx), Jed leads the audience on a journey through the past, with specially written music pairing with imagery from previous years to create an amazing audio-visual experience! In order to do this, not only did Moondance create cool Moonvision glasses for everyone to use, but Jed wrote 13 new songs for the event, each one designed to channel a previous year's theme! The show opens with "Tales From Halloweens Past" which sets the scene and recaps the various themes from past Halloween shows. Next up is "Pirate Chase" which conveys the pirate theme from the first Jed Halloween in 2009. It's followed by a beautiful song called "Orbit" in honor of 2010's space theme, and then "Trapeze" a fun frolic through 2011's circus themed concert which featured the Jed Luckless Band trio. 2012 featured a Hollywood theme, which spawned "Hollywood Blues" blues here, neither the theme nor this song being the strongest, but followed with a more energetic piece called "Posse" which echoes 2013's wild west theme and opens up into a nice little jam at the end. A fun romp through 2014's jungle theme called "Listen To Nature" has an upbeat tempo and very positive message, and "Look Our Here Comes A Comet!" is a fun learning lesson on dinosaur names in honor of 2015's Jurassic backdrop. An ethereal instrumental called "Dragonne" gives the feel of Dragons soaring through the air as they did in 2016, and the following year's hero theme is highlighted here with an interesting two part song called "Heroes & Villians Vol. I & II." A fun, energetic song called "Growing Up In The 80s" is a throw back to Jammin Jed's Eighties Halloween in 2018, followed by "Red Light" which channels the the underworld from 2020's hellish halloween (there was no Jed Halloween show in 2019). "Ransomed" is an odd, eerie song, but uses lyrices from the ransom note that had to be used when the Mystery theme be changed last minute due to the band being kidnapped (ie. someone got covid). It builds nicely to a transition into a reprise of "Tales Of Halloweens Past" to bring the set, and the experiencefull circle. If you were there at the show in Secondlife, it was really incredible - a groundbreaking experience of sound and images that truly took you on a journey through shared memories. By the end of the set, everyone was pretty emotional, including Jed who choked up at the mic, overwhelemed by feelings of friendship and love. After a brief break, Jed and Moonie launch into a second set which sticks with the theme, including one song that was played at each of the previous years Halloween concerts. It results in a long set, full of fun cover songs and a few really good jams. The set opens with the Grateful Dead's "Black Peter," followed by Jed's "Ozone Blues" which opens up into a nice jam before a segue into "When The Circus Comes To Town." Led Zeppelin's "Going To California" is up next, with Steve Millers' "Take The Money And Run" after it, paired with a good jam and the Dead's "Monkey And The Engineer." Phish's "Tube" pops up next, featuring a sweet funky solo section, and it's followed by another Zep tune, "Battle Of Evermore." The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" features a rocking end section, and Tommy Tutone's famous "867-5309" calls next, followed by a strong showing of the Talking Head's "Psycho Killer." The set closer is a long take on Phish's "Wolfman's Brother" featuring a jam that sprawls across a few key changes before bring it home with the wolfman's brother refrain. The encore, of course, is the traditional, always popular Jed Halloween tune "The Pumpkin Song." This is an incredible show, featuring 13 new songs written by Jed specifically for the event, many of which we hope will find their way into his rotation. As if that wasn't enough, second set clocks in at 110 minutes and features a bunch of fun rock covers and a few really tasty jams. This is the height of Halloween productions for Jedtainment and a must listen show! Enjoy!
