The JLB 2022 Fall Tour comes to a close with this show at Gonjaland in Secondlife, putting an exclamation point on another fantastic run of shows by the Metaverse's best jam band! Mark Gutenplan had to sit this show out, but the JLB Trio of Jed, Ken and Pete serve up more than enough tasty treats for the fans to feast on, including a whopping SIX debuts! Moondance Parx joined them on lights, as always providing amazing visuals to go with the music. The show opens nicely with the bar rock blueser "Far Gone Blues," but it definitely misses Mark on the dueling guitar riffs. The mellow and inspirational "I Love You" is up next with it's bouncy rhythm and lyrical refrains. The first debut of the night is up next, a dedication to Gonjaland with the folkster "Ten Ounces," followed by the first extended jam of the night coming out of the Phish cover staple "Sneaking Sally Through The Alley." It's a guitar driven jam with peaks and valleys that slides nicely into another Phish favorite "Gumbo," with Kenny Kaufman leading the vocals and taking over on bass in place of the typical piano outro. Another JLB debut is up next, but it's a cover song, their take on Lexie Luan's socially powerful "It Isn't Fair." One more new tune pops up to close the set, a fun bluegrasser by Jed called "I Don't Give A Shit About Your Shit." Second set opens with a strong version the Moe song "Happy Hour Hero," followed by another new one for JLB, Jed's prog-rocky "Multiply," which the band opens into a fifteen minute jam that might've continued even longer if Jed hadn't busted a string during it. After a quick restring, the band launches into yet another first timer, the title track off Jed's 2015 album "Roll Over." The band has one more killer jam in store for the fans, launching it from one more debut, Jed's Covid-era rocker "Send Me A Package." It's a great first outing for the song and though the jam out of it takes a minute to blast off, it eventually takes off with soaring guitar riffs and even some cool keyboard lines from Jed. The near twenty minute jam segues into "GuRGLe Shuffle" to end the set. The double encore features a beauitufl rendition of Prince's "Purple Rain" and the always epic closer, Phish's "First Tube." The band may have been a man down for this show, but the JLB Trio delivers a special night for fans, with six new debuts, some great covers and several wicked jams. Even without the full band this is a show definitely worth a listen for the jams and to hear some songs that will surely become fan favorites in the future. Enjoy!
