View NotesThe JLB 2022 Fall Tour continues at Gonjaland in Secondlife! Coming off a cancellation at the Dome last week, the energy level was high going into this show, at a friendly venue with an amazing light show. With some roster issues on this tour, it was great to have the full band in attendance (at least for half the show!). Of course, they open with fan favorite "Brother Love" at this Gonja oriented venue, always a fun way to start things off. They follow it up with the first of two debuts, a reggae-style Jed tune called "Hurtful Things." The first big jam of the night comes next, out of "2000 Pikes" and it's a forceful one, with some nice piano work from Mark Gutenplan and cool synth guitar from Jed as he teases the Nude Ants "Love and Happiness" riff. The jam slides nicely into a really strong version of the somber bluesy tune "Side Door." The pop-rocker "Nothing's Ever Free" is up next, spawning another nice jam before a segue into the second debut of the night, a beautiful take on Jed's quiet, contemplative "Own." The upbeat "Used To Feel Good," closes the set, featuring nice solos in turn from Mark, Pete Martine and Kenny Kaufman. Unfortunately, Mark had depart during set break, so the JLB Trio takes the stage for second set. But they do not disappoint! They start up the "Maserati" and open it up into a racy extended jam that winds its way through rocking riffs, manic rhythms and peaceful lulls. The jam slides nicely into a great take on the semi-instrumental "Umbrella Man." Both these songs had amazing light shows, featuring spinning wheels and floating umbrellas! The fun little rocker "Homewrecker" is up next, followed by a sweet bust-out of the melancholy "Celebrate Instead." The Velvet Underground tune "Rock And Roll" closes the set with an awesome jam section before wrapping things up with the "alright" refrain. Cailidgh Spire's "The Song With Words And Stuff" slots into the encore position, a spot the song is always at home in. This is a high energy JLB show with a nice mix of songs and an interesting second set lineup change that results in some nice jammability. It also features two new debuts from the band, which is always a treat. Enjoy!
