View NotesThe JLB 2022 Fall Tour continues with a second show at The Mumbling Goat in Secondlife! Sometimes things happen for reason, and sometimes that makes for a very unique show - this is one of those times! With Pete Martine delayed making it to the show, the rest of the band is forced to improvise, so they bust out a mini-set of acoustic Led Zeppelin tunes, which as Jed tells is fortuitous given the situation. The decision to start without Pete and do a series of Zeppelin tunes certainly won over the packed house. The trio of Jed, Mark and Ken open up with a gentle "Going To California" which works so well in their acoustic format that they continue the vibe with "That's The Way" off Zeppelin III. Things rev up a bit with "Gallows Pole" and some nice looped percussion, followed by the sentimental "Tangerine." Mark makes a request next for "Thank You" which seems perfect for the patient crowd. With Pete on the way, the band launches into one last Zep tune, the classic "Stairway To Heaven," with their drummer arriving just in time to join for the big crescendo at the end! With the full band in attendance now, JLB launches into their original material, opening this part of the show with "Listen To The Angels," followed by a very strong showing of "On Hold," a song only played a few times by the band. A couple Phish covers surafce next with "Ghost" and "Dirt" paired together with a nice jam in between. COVID-era rocker "The Last Show" closes out the first set on a high note. With the delayed start, time is a bit short for the "second" set, but the band makes the most of it by focusing on an 18 minute "Victim Of The Rhythm" with a killer jam that gets super spacy before sliding into a well matched "Space Oddity" in honor of the recent David Bowie documentary release. There's just enough time left for the upbeat "Still In Luv With U," to end the set, and the fellas tack on one more Zeppelin tune to bookend the night with an enthusiastic "Rock And Roll." This is a super special show, especially for the Zep fans out there or anyone who was lamenting the cancellation of this year's Jed Zeppelin event. But beyond the fun of the Zep theme, the band also delivers some first rate original music and jams, with a must-hear "On Hold," and a VOTR jam that is way, way out there! Enjoy!
