View NotesJLB hits the stage at The Mumbling Goat in Secondlife for the second show in their March Madness 2022 run! The band was ready to go, all warmed up from their show the night before, and with a great crowd in attendance at the Goat. Jed eases into things by leading off with "Brother Love," before handing off to Mark Gutenplan and his sentimental rocker "Remember This Night." It's a tune the band loves to jam on, and they do it well here with a pulsating jam featuring some nice teases from Jed. The jam transitions into one of the newer tunes in the repetoire, the bouncy "I Love You." Pete Martine's "favorite song" is up next, the little ditty about Maine called "Geneva Sue." Another newer tune pops up next, Jed's lockdown rocker "The Last Show," followed byt the first cover song of the night, Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower" which opens up into a blissful jam featuring soaring guitar melodies before transitioning into the Grateful Dead's "Deal" to close the set. Second set kicks off with Kenny Kaufman's "Saw Mill River," with it's frenetic solo section opening up into a sinister jam with some trippy guitar and keyboard interplay. The dust settles on a brand new debut, a somber blueser called "Cold Dark Winter." The pace picks up again with the groove oriented "Latest Craze," a tune only played maybe once before by the band, followed by yet another of the newer songs, Jed's reflective "The Birds Don't Know." It's back to rock covers with the VU's fan favorite "Rock And Roll," on which the band takes the opportunity to dive into one more deep jam, before a fun return to the reprise of the unfinished "Saw Mill River." The encore features Phish's "Suzy Greenberg," putting a super fun exclamation point on the show. This is a fun JLB show featuring a bunch of the newer material along with a debut, but also a number of classic rock covers. Oh yeah, and some incredible jams too! Enjoy!
