View NotesPlayers: Charles Atkins - keyboards and vocals The Blues Boys Larry Laseur - harmonica Harty Wiedemann - guitar Tom Henning - guitar with Brian Baker on drums Several new songs in this session. Everyone's comfortable, playing around, adding something, even Tom comes out with a tune. Evening starts with another spiritual, Charles on organ getting warmed up; 3rd track adds some piano but he struggles some, track 2 is better. Next we jump into the Alphabet Song, a children's song but I think Charles says a bad work right at the start ;) Wooo-hooo - it's the train. Love it! Next is Tom's piece, and it sounds like that gets some words and shifts into City Life, not sure but it has a nice groove. Then Harty starts the next tune which Charles titles Honey That's Nice. Several takes before getting it on track 15 altho Charles has some questions about the theme. Must be breaktime so it's Charles working out Where Do You Go from Here - piano parts, then vocals kick in. Cool version of St Louie Blues, slower than usual and with organ. Stop Doggin' Me Around gets stretched too, enough for everyone to show off a piece. Finally - a complete version of Best Call, altho Larry needs some encouragement and comes thru strong at the end. Better version of Catch Some Highway too; the practice pays off as they get to play around with it some. Ditto for Old Fashioned Rockin' and since things are going good, they work on another new tune - Home Where You Belong. It gets going but also clips some beginning of second take. After this Charles starts Foolin Around; tempo picks up on second version. Last track is one of those end of night wonders where Charles just finds something and works it. Larry on harp. Ran out of tape so there is a slight break halfway. And the BURP at the end.
