View NotesPlayers: Charles Atkins - keyboards and vocals The Blues Boys Larry Laseur - harmonica Harty Wiedemann - guitar Tom Henning - guitar Notes: A night of standards to give Brian Baker a shot on drums and someone called Louie sitting in on bass. This is the third night in a row for Charles and his voice is a bit congested at times. Despite that he starts off right where he ended the night before with Higher and Higher. Overall this is as close to a show that you will get in practice. Charles is putting a lot into his vocals and really gets it going. St James Infirmary is good as always; as is Unchain My Heart. Stormy Monday has some good piano parts, lots of crying and a Yes Lord at the end. That leads to Stand by Me, one of his favorites. Often on this song, near the end, Charles will stand so you can hear as he goes off-mic. That's Larry singing with Charles on You Got Me Running/My Baby; or whatever it's called (I was guessing on these titles at times). It's been and hour and a half now so the boys break for a bit. Home - Where You Belong is right after break; Larry is on bass now, Charles is noodling with him and then guitar picks it up, and then words and there's another new song. The next song is Harty starting something and Charles picks it up and there's a second new song. All Blues is a bit rough; it always had potential but they never seem to quite get there. The last track is Charles riffing with Hi-way, saying goodbyes, and you get to hear Brian speak. Thanks bud, sorry it didn't work out. There was a second tape that night that had something called Go to Heaven after Stand By Me and then a jam Charles had with Louie during break.
