The guitar parts can be tiresome as they learn their stuff, but that's the way it went trying to keep up with Charles. Someone (me or Tom) had the reverb on the board turned up a bit too much (obviously), but it paid off near the end when Larry was playing harp thru a vocal mic. Lean on Me is always nice but the reverb detracts some. I have field recordings of Charles singing this in a Special Ed classroom with the kids and aides (he would "call on" everyone there and it would go on forever) but it's doubtful I'll put those on the archive. All Blues is something the band made up; New Train too. Track 18 - Florida Song - was good but the tape ran out and side B had a skip in it. About 2 hours into the practice, Charles was warmed up, everybody else was done for, so he hit it. Track 32 - Higher and Higher has Larry singing with Charles on harmony. The rest are Charles originals. I believe this was the first recording of Ribbon On My Day - a song Charles wrote for Larry's wife at the time, DL Laseur, who would walk Charles across the FSU campus between classes. (Ed. 2-11-93 is first recording but I can't find a session sheet for that date.)
