Jammin' Jed's Halloween show has become an annual tradition at the DarkStar sim in Secondlife, always featuring a great theme, fun songs and cool ghost stories or other theatrical stuff. He's told tales from the wild west, had adventures in outer space, taken journeys to fantatsic lands and provided many other extremely entertaining Halloween concerts. This is Year Nine and it does not disappoint, as Jed celebrates heroes of all types with Jammin Jed's Heroic Halloween! The show starts off with a re-play of the super fun announcement video featuring Spider-Man and Darth Vader arguing about the Halloween show theme, and then finally settling on Iron Man's idea to just call it "Jammin Jed's Heroic Halloween" and let marketing figure it out. As a tie in to the announcement video, there's a special host for the first set - Spider-Man! (played by Jed doing a crackly teenage voice). The set opens with a fun medley of superhero tv and movie clips before the live music begins with the appropriate "Spider-Man Theme." Jed is joined for this show by his brother "Snet" on the drums and his "cousin" Liam on the harmonica this trio played previously at the Doof Luckless benefit show). The band sounds fantastic right out of the gate. "Spider-Jed" continues his narration in-between each song setting the stage for the tune by highlighting different types of heroes throughout. "Behind Blue Eyes" is a dedication to the unsung nature of heroism, and it sounds great with the harmonica and back-up vocals. Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead Or Alive" rides into town next as a villian, followed by a tribute to heroes who make the ultimate sacrifice with a Credence combo of "Born On The Bayou" featuring Liam on lead vocals, and the CCR rocker "Fortunate Son." This is not an overly jammy unit, but they crank out a decent jam here. A somber "Ohio" pays homage to those heroes who die for their causes. After a brief commercial break, Spider-Jed wraps up the set with tributes to our leaders and bosses, with The Beatle's "Taxman" and Bruce the Boss's "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out." Second set has it's own host, the other half of the announcement video co-stars, Darth Vader. It's of course Jed again, this time trying to do his best James Earl Jones, but often sounding more like Gandalf. Still its a hoot, and after the introduction we're treated to a medley of rock and roll heroes talking about their craft. The music starts up again with a lost Rock & Roller tribute to Tom Petty and Gregg Allman. It starst out with the Door's "When The Music's OVer," which features another nice jam from the trio before sliding into Allman's "Midnight Rider." A brief Halloween costume contest interlude intercedes before the band returns to the tribute with Petty's "You Got Lucky" paired with the Gregg Allman classic "Sweet Melissa." CSN&Y's "Teach Your Children" pays homage to our heroic teachers, but it could've used some help from the voice coach. The set wraps up with a heroic send off to the Mom's out there, with "Mama Tried." The traditional "Pumpkin Song" encore is included of course, and the band must not have wanted to stop playing, since they throw in a second encore and tribute to Jed's first guitar teacher, with Tommy Tutone's "867-5309." This is another fantastic concert in a long series of outstanding Halloween events from Jed, Jedtainment and everyone involved. With the addition of the live trio this year, the music is rocking and the vibes are great. Enjoy!
