View NotesHere we go with another stop on the Jed Luckless 2017 Europe Tour! This time Jed visits The Netherlands, rocking the VAIC venue in Secondlife with two sets of originals, covers and jams! Jed recounts a bit of his travels and his struggle with European time zones before beginning the show in perfect fashion with "Brother Love," his cannabis history song. It's a great start with a strong backbeat and a lot of energy. Jed tones it down a notch with the Bob Dylan cover "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" before cranking it up again with his original "Latest Craze." The LA-inspired rocker gives way to a sultry jam with a great beat and funky bass line, and Jed proceeds to rip it up before a brief refrain and sharp turn into a brooding vibe featuring some tasty organ and a drippy guitar solo. The Memorial Day tune "Bring Our Brothers Home" emerges from the fog, and it's poignant as always. But Jed lightens it up again with a Gregg Allman tribute and a Phish cover featuring the story of "Captain Claws" the World War Two cat. Second set is a monster, clocking in at over an hour and half. It starts off with a lengthy version of a tune from Jed's GuRGLe past, "Old Man Miller," followed by the more recent, "The Story of Shirtless Joe," both adding to the "storytime" vibe of this show. The folksy "Far Gone Blues" is up next and it takes on an Allmans type feel this time. It's followed by a more obscure Jed tune called "Give It Up" which evokes a bouncy jam before blasting off into the David Bowie song "Space Oddity" and a subsquent jam that launches into deep space. When the rocket ship lands, it's on planet Phish with "Tube" and a sweet funk jam. That might've wrapped up most Jed shows, but this one still has over twenty minutes of music left in it, including another story song "Ten Ounces," the soulful "Some Notes On Lying" and one last Phish cover with a little "Bathtub Gin" to close it out. This is another fun show from a great Jed Tour and definitely worth a listen especially if you like Jed's storyteller side. Enjoy!
