View Notes-Set 2 is seamless -This show won't quite fit on 2 CD's. I prefer t1-t8(CD 1),t9-t14(CD 2),t15-t20(CD 3). -The show was not my favorite of the three from 88, but seeing the Dead at The Greek was extra special on any day. Four of us drove from Kansas on this trip. We had to replace our tires in Salt Lake City to make it across the Nevada desert in July. We found a motel in Berkeley and I remember parking was a bit of a problem around the theater. The only way to get a spot in the seating area was to spend the night in line. That wasn't in the cards. On this night Brent gave us one of the better versions of 'I Will Take You Home' and drums were cool w/ Baba. As I recall, the night he played the Kaiser in Oakland earlier in the year was sweet too. There were persistant problems with the sound on this night. I'm not sure was caused it. There was a high pitched squeal at one point and I remember Terrapin had a lot of issues. The static wasn't just on the FM's. The FM's were good in places. As I recall though there were problems with the signal and sound almost from start to finish. The encore was full of static on the FM that wasn't on the audience tape. I'm certain the Charlie Miller SBD of this show is the best version. I'm sure he worked some magic to remove or reduce the many issues with the sound system. This is what I could put together as a 25 year old kid with about one year of experienc recording shows. Japanese mic's and a decent 4-track w/dbx nr and a big mic stand. At the time these tapes meant much to me and still do. I know these recordings are far from the best quality available, but they have heart if you ask me. Peace & Music, dg hale
