View NotesFor the fifth year in a row, Jed Luckless traverses the world with his Europe Tour 2021! This is the opening show on the tour, and Jed kicks things off in style at La Fabrik in France, a venue that has been on his Europe tour itinerary since year one in 2017. The show opens perfectly with "Doigter," a mostly instrumental that features some spoken French. Its super hot back in the USA, so Jed launches "Ozone Blues" next, followed by the bluesy "Moved To The Country." The first big jam piece of the night comes in the clean up position, with "Doesn't" which as always features an extended solo portion before taking off into an epic improv featuring some nice synth lines and killer echoing guitar riffs. It segues nicely into the mellow fingerpicked "Own" followed closely by the up tempo "Where The Mountains Meet The Sea" to end the set. After a short break, Jed takes the stage with a debut of a "new old" song never before played live called "Someone To Give My Love To" and he promises more debuts of old songs on the tour. The set really starts up next with the more traditional second set opener "Victim Of The Rhythm" and it's usual extended jam which here clocks in over 25 minutes and features a strange mix of synths, drums and vocalizations. It melts down into the brooding and addictive "Side Door." After a brief moment hawking Europe Tour t-shirts, Jed starts up the Grateful Dead's "Truckin" but a power outage brings it to a screeching halt. When the power returns, Jed starts up the engine again and delivers a twenty minute version of the Dead tune featuring synths, wa-wahs, leslies and some soaring guitar riffs. It makes a smooth and fast transition into a high energy "Still In Luv With U" to end the set. Another live debut of an environmentally conscious song called "Take Another Look" brings the show to a close. This is an awesome opening salvo on Jed's Europe Tour 2021 and if all the shows are gonna be like this, we're in for a good time. Enjoy!
