View NotesThe Jed Luckless Europe Tour 2021 continues with another show in France at The Night Owl, a venue that is new to the Jed Heads. They show up in force along with Moondance on the light rig, and the result is a short but high energy show! Set one opens perfectly with "The Last Show" a heartfelt song about the absence of live concerts during the Covid-19 quarantine. It sets a great tone for a joyous evening of music! Jed follows it with the heavenly "Listen To The Angels," with a particularly rocking mid section. The Mark Gutenplan song "Remember This Night" is up next and it produces the first extended jam of the evening, an 18 minute fiesta of rhythmic beats, scorching guitar riffs and punchy synths. It segues into the bouncy "On Hold" which is a nice palette cleanser in that spot. The set closes with a solide version of Jed's reggae style "Hurtful Things." Second set opens strongly with an intensely rocking version of "Send Me A Package" with some powerful vocals from Jed. It opens up into the only other improv jam of the night, this one clocking in over 19 minutes and peppered with melodic guitar lines and amazing tone. It transitions nicely into the powerfully somber "Cold Dark Winter" during which Moonie made it rain on the crowd. Things pick up right away with a rocking version of "Sugar Pop," with Jed really pushing the envelope on the solo section of the song. A surprising debut of a GuRGLe song comes next with "The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea," an epic rocker featuring a high energy instrumental portion with Jed doing his best to replicate Robert Varkony's classic guitar riff. There's a hard curfew at the venue, so there's only time left for a short encore which delivers the bluesy title track off Jed's 2016 album "Roll Over." At only about an hour and forty minutes, this is a short show, but it has a great vibe, and Jed manages to make it feel alot along longer by pushing the songs, stretching the solos, and providing a couple awesome jams. Give it a listen and enjoy!
