View NotesThe Jed Luckless Europe Tour 2021 continues with it's second stop in the UK and the tour's return to the beautiful New Brighton Pier theatre in Secondlife. It's a late show but the crowd rolls in during first set ready to party into the night. Jed opens the show with a very American song, "2000 Pikes," followed by a song about a girl, "Jackie" and a song about a girl fish "Black Molly." It's "Nothings Ever Free" in the clean up position that belts out the first home run jam of the night, a funky affair with heavy hitting guitar that shifts into a lofty, major key with soaring riffs and intense power chords. It gives way to the reflective "Some Notes On Lying." Jed has another jam in store for first set, coming out of his pounding rocker "Give It Up" and delivering synthy leads and bouncy rhythms. It lands on the GuRGle era tune "Cash Me In," a refreshing semi-rarity to end the set. Second set opens with "Each And Every Day" which produces a high-energy improv jam with atmospheric synthesizers and echoing guitars. It comes down into the quiet and spiritual "Begging For Mercy." The first and only cover song of the night is up next with Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower," and as always Jed puts his funked up and rockin spin on it, extending the jam into a crescendo that crashes into "Forgot To Forget You" to close the short second frame. A brief encore features the title track from Jed's 2010 album "All At Once." This is a solid show at one of the tour's favorite venues to hit and Jed manages to crank out some super high energy jams at this otherwise generally reserved venue. Enjoy!
