View NotesIt's show #3 on the Jed Luckless Winter Tour 2021! Some strange energies were swirling around in the air on this night, and they manifest themselves throughout the show. But Jed and Moonie carry on and deliver a rocking concert at Gonjaland in Secondlife. The show appropriately features alot of "weed-inspired" songs, starting off with "Brother Love" and "Ass Gas Or Grass." Right off the bat the energy is dialed in for the venue. The Tennessee rocker "Back Again" is up next, followed by the sentimental "Jackie" which spawns the first major jam of the night, a steady rhythmic affair with echoing guitar leads and a nice piano solo from Jed. "Queen Lucille" emerges from the din. The Mark Gutenplan penned "FM Rock" follows, attached to a classic rock cover, Steely Dan's "Do It Again." An FM Rock reprise closes out the first set. The second frame opens with an energy-appropriate "Go Away" which opens up into the traditional second set first slot jam, a fast paced improv wih a driving back beat the reaches a wild uitar crescedno before descending into a reggae-ish acoustic section that features primal screams from Jed and some alarmingly odd sounding synthesizer. An angry sounding "Mr. Beaman" appears suddenly to tell the tale of "lincoln like men" and "the kedge." It's back to a weed theme with the folksy "Ten Ounces" next, followed by a newer Jed tune called "Send Me A Package." it's a straightahead rocker that produces the final improv jam of the night before a segue into the quiet "Uprooted." It's an abbreviated version, as is the "Saw Mill River" that follows. You can tell there's a venue curfew since the typical psychedelic midle jam of the song is basically eschewed so that Jed can fit in the required Phish encore, which is "Contact." This is a good show, with some strange energies producing some memomrable moments. The improv jams are all hot, and some of Jed's more obscure songs make their appearances. The Steely Dan cover is a fun rarity too. Enjoy!
