View NotesJammin Jed's Winter Tour 2021 makes a stop for a good cause at Feed A Smile in Secondlife, where all proceeds go to feed children in Kenya. It's always a great vibe at the Lavender Fields and Jed and his lighting director Moondance deliver a fantastic show while raising over 500 meals for the kids! The show opens with an anniversary dedication to Jed's friends Josiah and Devina Darkbyrd, celebrating their tenth. It's the song "Missing Us" with lyrics penned by Christine Lanfranco. Jed's obviously in the mood to jam, because he extends the up-tempo pop rocker into a 15 minute improv jam right out of the gate, before settling down into the Bernie Sanders inspired "Undeserved." The youthfully rebellious "Nose Ring" is up next, and it gets a new reggae style treatment which works well. A cover tune combo follows featuring the Talking Head's "Cities" joined to the Grateful Dead's "Sugaree" with a punchy, synth jam. The "Sugaree" peak is particularly powerful. Jed closes out the set with one more cover, the Phish song "My Sweet One," with a nod to the internet superstar "zoom cat" lawyer. Second set opens with another Christine Lanfranco tune, the angry rocker "Perfect Package," which produces a fantastic jam with soaring guitar lines. An ambient transition segues into the folksy "Barter Creek," followed by the reflective fingerpicker "All The Same." It's back to the cover tunes next with The Rolling Stones' "Loving Cup" which features a nice long solo jam. The Covid-19 relief fundraiser "Helping Hand" makes a rare appearance to close out the set, and the tour's obligatory alphabetical Phish encore is one of the more rocking ones with a lengthy take on "Julius" to wrap up the evening. This is a show with a great positive vibe, a cool setlist featuring some great cover tunes and a few choice jams. Enjoy!
