View NotesIt's an election day special event with JLB! This show was performed on Election Day November 8, 2016 at the Blarney Stone in Secondlife and like election night it was chock full of surprises and suspense. Set I starts out with "The Freeze" and right out of the gate you can tell the band has some pent up energy as they jam the bouncy original for thirteen minutes before sliding into a well paired "Ozone Blues." The Mark Gutenplan song "Road Trip" follows and leads into another lengthy jam with great guitar interplay between Jed and Mark and a heavy groove laid down by the rhythm section. The jam segues into Jed's "Brother Love," which features a powerful solo section. One of only two covers of the night comes next, the CSN&Y classic "Ohio" with a nod to the swing state and a dedication to Standing Rock, followed by the JLB rocker "Still In Luv With U" closes out the first set. Second set opens with a bit of election related banter before the band launches into an impromptu "Ziggy Stardust" lead-in to "Victim Of The Rhythm." The foursome continues to push the improv envelope with an extended solo mid-tune and extends the song to seventeen minutes with some rocking rhythms, layered jams and syncopated dynamics, before shifting into the ballad "Smile Forever." Another Mark led song hits next, the title appropriate "Remember This Night" and once again JLB stretches it out to nearly ten minutes. The four song second set wraps up with the high energy cover of Cailidgh Spires "The Song With The Words And Stuff." The band is locked in on some great jamming, the vocals sound great and the song choices are perfect for this historic Election night JLB show. Enjoy!
