View NotesJLB returns to close out a six-show fall run at various venues across Secondlife. This time it's a new venue for the band, a tropical setting called Hana Aloha, and the mountaintop was packed with a crowd of old friends and new. The show kicks off with a wintery JLB classic, "The Freeze" and like the last time they opened with it (on 11/8) they jam it out nicely before making a transition, this time to "Road Trip" with it's reggae vibe. A cover tune pops early this time out, with Phish's "Bouncing Around The Room" a perfect fit for the throng of dancing fans. Jed's "Queen Lucille" gets a funky treatment, followed by one of the newer Luckless originals, the bouncy "Used To Feel Good." A highlight of the show comes next, the Bob Dylan song "She Belongs To Me," which is a favorite of the band that produces a nice extended jam here. A proverbial "SILWU" wraps up the first set. With a special guest at the Jedstead things are bit chaotic, and second set starts humorously with a brief, impromptu piece instantly coined "Fog Machine." After a laugh, the set kicks off properly with a Hana Aloha favorite "Victim Of The Rhythm" and a nice jam that winds its way into "Brother Love." Special guest "Miss Mel" joins JLB on stage for the next number, and proceeds to belt out the Janis Joplin tune "Me And Bobby McGee." Jed's ballad "Celebrate Instead" has a perfect placement next, but before the band gets too mellow, Mark Gutenplan pumps it up again with "Remember This Night," the JLB jam vehicle once again topping fifteen minutes with an extremely brief drum solo from Pete Martine. A string of Holiday Tunes closes out the show, including Mark's seasonal original "Rudy's Tune," an energetic take from Jed on the Kinks "Father Christmas," and the return of "Miss Mel" to the stage for a "Jingle Bell Rock" encore. The show, and the tour, wraps up with Kenny Kaufman's elusive "Saw Mill River" Reprise. It's a chaotic but energetic JLB show that delivers some excellent jams, a few uncharacteristic covers and alot of holiday cheer. Enjoy!
