Here's a Jed Luckless show from the middle of his 2016 Fall Tour, atop the rocky bluffs of Hana Aloha in Secondlife. This was show #7 of an 18 show tour and features two sets full of original music and smokin jams. You know it's gonna be a fun one when Jed starts it out with "Quarter To Four," the quintissential party song. With everyone at the venue soaked from a virtual rain storm and dancing to dry off, the show was off to a great start. Jed's bouncy original "Doesn't" kicks off the set proper, and it's a nice warm up with a crisp solo portion that pushes it over ten minutes. Things settle down with the instrumentale francais "Doigter" followed by the cannabistorical "Brother Love." The first of two original debuts is up next, a "duet" and dedication called "Secret Language," a beautiful song which Jed claims suffers from some bad tuning, but it sounds pretty darn good despite that. Jed shakes it off with a monstrous 'Mosul' version of "Friendly Burial" that clocks in at over twnety three minutes. It's the first part of a GuRGLe trifecta, featuring the classic "Cash Me In" and the infamous "So Much For O.J." (which does not get played as much these days!). It's a good time for a breather, but Jed is back on stage quickly and ready to race, opening the second set with the speedy instrumental "Maserati." The letter of the day is "M" apparently as Jed follows with "Multiply" and "Meredith." "Multiply" is another original debut and it spawns a sweet jam featuring Jed on a vintage solid-state synth he was using at the time. "Meredith," an instrumental eulogy for a friend, is as powerful as always. Jed is talktive at this show, and he tells the full story of "The Kid That Tried To Fly" before launching into the song. It's an interesting take on it with some different phrasing than I was used to, and it generates the longest jam of the night, a sultry rhythm with blazing guitar riffs. It segues into "On The Shelf" from Jed's 2010 "All At Once" album. A long version of the little ditty "Where The Mountains Meet The Sea" caps off the lenghty set, with the only cover tune of the night in the encore slot, the Phish song "Character Zero." This is a hot show from a period where Jed was on fire and performing at one of his favorite venues in Secondlife. Unfortunately, this was the last time Jed would play Hana Aloha as a solo act, with only one more appearance at the venue with the Jed Luckless Band on 12/12/16. That makes this an historic and fun jed show, full of original music and wild improvisation. Enjoy!
