This is a show from the Jed Luckless 2016 Winter Tour, at The Blarney Stone in Secondlife on March 8, 2016. This was shortly after Jed's move into the Jedstead and he was really getting comfortable with the setup and with pushing the envelope on the jams (some say 2016-2017 represents a peak for Jammin Jed jams). It's a tight show with a strict curfew and no pyrotechnics, so it's right down to business as Jed opens with "The Story Of Shirtless Joe," and continues the bar stool storyteller feeling with "Mr. Beaman," and the first nice jam of the night which is a bouncy affair with a nice ambiance to it that really takes off. The jam segues with an oddly placed "Star Trek" tease into "Barter Creek" a quiet tune that's a nice come down from the Beaman jam. Jed throws in a couple cover tunes next, the favorite rocker "Over The Hills and Far Away" by Led Zeppelin and the more often reserved for Dead shows "Dear Mr. Fantasy" complete with "Hey Jude" tease and another "Star Trek" nod too. The Fantasy jam which accompanies it is another highlight of the first set featuring some nice interplay between keys, guitar and Jed's therminator. Another Maine related tune ends the set, the little ditty "Where The Mountain Meets The Sea." Second set opens in fun style as Jed solicits some tips with Spinal Tap's "Gimme Some Money." It feels like the set begins with the next song "Own," one of Jed's soulful and reflective tunes, which gets the short treatment here. With not alot of time, Jed throws caution to the wind and launches into a 17 minute version of Phish's "Bathub Gin." The solo is nice and patient, featuring some nice keyboard action and the song opens up into a funky, frenetic jam with feedback loop, theramin and "leslie" guitar effects. It's a rocking jam and it's paired with another Phish tune "Winterqueen" which Jed also puts a jammy spin on. Jed's "newsie" song "So Much For OJ" wraps up the set, and there's just enough time for one more Phish song, a "Show Of Life" encore. This is a fun little show, with a few sweet jams and some rare Jed tunes like "Mr. Beaman" and "Barter Creek." If you're a Phish phan, the "Gin" jam and "WinterQueen" are definitely worth checking out. Enjoy!
