View NotesHere's a fantastic show from Jammin Jed's 2016 Winter Tour! This is one of the gang's favorite Secondlife bars, The Blarney Stone and Jed delivers a nice, taut show, with a succint setlist that mixes originals, covers and a few tasty jams. The show opens energetically with Jed's pop rocker "Still In Luv With U," then eases back on the gas pedal with the more somber "Listen To The Angels." The D&D song "Alignments" is up next, followed by the first cover of the evening, Bob Dylan's "Tangled up In Blue." Two more Jed originals close out the set. "Give It Back," starts off with some nice slide guitar from Jed, but he falters a bit on the entry into the song's bridge, admittedly one of the more complicated Jed riffs (it clearly distracts him, as he then bails on the solo pretty quickly, which he usually loves to extend). But once the tune is over, Jed lets loose again and the result is the first meaty jam of the night. It's a funky affair with ripping guitar lines and a hypnotic ambience that segues into Jed's "most hated" song, "My Kid," a controversial rarity at this point but a fun version here featuring "Andy Griffith" teases. Second set blasts off right away with Phish's "Chalkdust Torture" which Jed opens up into the longest jam of the night, with a fast-driving beat, swirling waves of rhythm and biting guitar leads. The jam winds down into a brief atmospheric breath before "Lawn Boy" emerges for the second half of a Phish two-fer. cover comes next, the Talking Heads song "Psycho Killer," which also features a hot improv jam and some scorching guitar leads. It cools down quickly and segues into the dainty and fragile "Come Tomorrow" from Jed's "Luna" suite. With a bevy of originals already trotted out, Jed wraps up the evening with a couple of Grateful Dead covers, the speedy "Casey Jones" with a bouncy jam, an Andy Griffith reprise and a "Ripple" ender. This is a tight show from Jed Luckless, featuring a bunch of strong originals, some fun covers and a few really nice jams. No matter what aspect of Jed's shows you enjoy most, there's a bit of it all in this one. Enjoy!
